CO2 Full Form, What does CO2 stand for?

The Full Form of CO2

CO2 Full Form The Full Form of CO2 in medical terms is Carbon Dioxide. It is a colorless gas that has 60% higher density than dry air. Carbon dioxide is made up of one carbon atom which is covalently double bonded with two oxygen atoms. Naturally, it surfacesas a trace gas in the atmosphere of Earth. Concentration of this gas is supposedly around 0.04%

Natural sources comprise hot springs, volcanoesand geysers, and dissolution of rocks through water or acid frees the element back into the atmosphere. Since carbon dioxide gets dissolved in water, it forms naturally in rivers and lakes, groundwater, glaciers, ice caps and seawater. CO2 is odorless at normal concentrations, however at high concentrations it gives off a sharp acidic odor.

In medicine, stabilization of the O2/CO2 balance is made by adding up to 5% carbon dioxide (130 times atmospheric concentration) to oxygen, in blood, for stimulating the breathing after apnea. Carbogen, an inhalable gas which is formed by mixing carbon dioxide with up to 50% oxygen, has various purposes in medicinal and research processes.

CO2 is found to be the end product of cellular respiration in organisms who meet their energy needs by breaking down fats, sugars, and amino acids along with oxygen in metabolism process. This contains all algae, plants and animalsas well as aerobic bacteria and fungi.

In vertebrates, CO2 travels in blood to skin through the body tissues as in amphibians, or through the gills as in fish and dissolves in water, or to lungs to be exhaled like the higher terrestrial living beings. When active photosynthesis takes place, plants absorb more carbon dioxide than they release during respiration, from the atmosphere.
